Pulse Group professionals were retained by the Port of Los Angeles to assist them in the development of a strategic plan to increase tourism in the port areas of Los Angeles and San Pedro. As part our work we analyzed current visitation patterns, examined the operating and physical characteristics of local attractions and evaluated the opportunities and constraints to tourism development based on land use patterns, environmental considerations and other business/economic issues. During the course of the project we also conducted a series of out-reach forums with attraction operators, tour operators and management of local hospitality related businesses, to seek their input in the planning process. The result of our work was a series of recommendations for both operating and infrastructure improvements, aimed at both increasing the number of tourists to the area and the quality of the tourism experience.
