Glenn County, California

About This Project

Glenn County California retained The Pulse Group in spring 2015 to assist them in the development of community recreation strategy for the Hamilton City area. As part of our work we: organized and facilitated a variety of community outreach efforts including workshops and town hall meetings; developed a comprehensive market/economic analysis of factors affecting demand for recreation facilities/programs; prepared a competitive analysis of locally and regional available programs/facilities; helped the community prioritize various facility and programming alternatives based on realistic sustainable possibilities; and, built consensus among community leaders for a focused community recreation strategy moving forward. In addition, the project included an analysis of site/location development issues, an evaluation of local/regional partnering possibilities and recommendations for how a community recreation program in Hamilton City could best be managed. As a result of our work, the Community Services District passed a unanimous resolution to create a recreation division and talks are now underway with The Boys & Girls Club of North Valley to assist in youth recreation programming efforts. The final report for the project included proprietary research with respect to possible funding options, as well as a discussion of how these sources, including grants, loans and development fee based alternatives might be structured.
